But God

This week...has been hard. It's sometimes difficult to sit down and write when things press in from all sides, because very little of it is actually fit for public consumption.  My heart has been broken again, and from our position here, there isn't any light at the end of the tunnel - though I suspect that is merely because we haven't reached the bend that shows us where the ending is.

Many days are filled with Herculean effort, only to find we aren't Hercules but merely Sisyphus.

But God...

Don’t be afraid, for I am with you.
Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you.
I will hold you up with my victorious right hand Isaiah 41:10

He has that to say about my circumstances.

But God...

God began doing a good work in you, and I am sure he will continue it until it is finished when Jesus Christ comes again.  Phil. 1:6

He has that to say about our failures.

But God...

Trust in the Lord with all your heart;
do not depend on your own understanding.
Seek his will in all you do,
and he will show you which path to take. Prov. 3:5-6

He has this to say about my confusion.

But God...

And let us not lose heart and grow weary and faint in acting nobly and doing right, for in due time and at the appointed season we shall reap, if we do not loosen and relax our courage and faint. Gal 6:9

He has this to say about my exhaustion.

But God...

"Look! Look! God has moved into the neighborhood, making his home with men and women! They're his people, he's their God. He'll wipe every tear from their eyes. Death is gone for good—tears gone, crying gone, pain gone—all the first order of things gone." The Enthroned continued, "Look! I'm making everything new. Write it all down—each word dependable and accurate." Rev. 21:5

He has this to say about my future.

So I must ask myself...

Why, my soul, are you downcast?
   Why so disturbed within me?
Put your hope in God,
for I will yet praise him,
my Savior and my God. Ps 42:5

And there I find my Answer too.

Psalm 42 is a go to verse for me. Love it.
